About PSA
Pediatric Sunshine Academics (PSA), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization (tax ID # 65-0854095) established in 2003, is dedicated to support research and education in pediatric endocrinology, metabolism, and nutrition.
Current Projects
- PSA is funding the publication of the journal Growth, Genetics and Hormones.
- PSA is helping support the Pediatric Research Center in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The research is designed to determine the energy requirements of infants with malnutrition and after they recover from the disease.
- PSA in conjunction with EMTAC, Inc. participates in an NIH-sponsored research project ongoing in Santa Barbara, California at the Sansum Diabetes Research Institute and at the Primate Research Laboratory State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn New York. The aim of this project is to determine the variations in metabolic rates of infants and/or monkeys that may lead to obesity later on in life.
- PSA established the Sylvana Diabetes Education Center in Santa Barbara, California to enhance the care of children with diabetes and other nutritionally related alterations.
- PSA supported the publication of the 5th Edition of Pediatric Endocrinology
